*OPTIONAL EARLY FINISHES
Immerse yourself in bucolic bliss with this epic 30km summer circular, traversing the countryside and woodland surrounding Canterbury.
Meeting at Canterbury West Station at 10:00 am sharp, we’ll grab a coffee and pastry from The Goods Shed before beginning our stunning all-day walk. We’ll head north out of town towards Blean Wood, where we’ll join the Canterbury Outer Ring and head southward, passing through glorious countryside and several quintessentially Kentish hamlets. Dipping in and out of shady summer woodland all day, we’ll eventually circle back around through the east of the city, making our way to Canterbury’s historic heart before heading home.
For those who don’t fancy the whole stretch, there are plenty of options to finish early, with lots of bus routes taking you back into the centre of town. For anyone who’s still got some steam at the end of the hike, there’s the option to grab a celebratory drink at one of the city’s many quaint pubs.
This is a big old hike, but the terrain isn’t too challenging. However, as it’s a long day, come prepared with lunch, plenty of snacks and at least two to three litres of water. There are a couple of pubs on the route, so we may have a chance to nip in and grab refreshments, as long as we don’t linger too long.
